As Chief Publications Officer, Rachel Burley leads APS Publications, including the Physical Review family of leading peer-reviewed journals. A seasoned publishing executive, she brings more than 20 years of experience setting strategic direction for major scholarly publishers, with oversight spanning editorial operations, sales and marketing, and product development.
Burley previously served as President of the Research Square Company, where she led an international team of 280 scientists, researchers, language experts, software developers, and publishing professionals delivering editing and preprint services. Earlier in her career, she held Vice President and Publishing Director roles at Springer Nature, Wiley, and Nature Publishing Group.
Throughout her career, Burley has drawn on her background in business development and publishing to advance leading-edge trends in scientific, technical, and medical publishing, developing new products, platforms, services, and business models.
