Chief Information Officer Mark Doyle leads APS information systems.

    Mark Doyle

    Mark Doyle has been with the American Physical Society since 1996 and serves as Chief Information Officer, leading APS Information Systems including the systems associated with the Society’s journals, membership, meetings, and programs.

    Doyle is a member of the CHORUS Board and the long-time chair of its advisory Technical Working Group. He also serves on the National Information Standards Organization's Journal Article Tag Suite (JATS) Standing Committee. In the past, he has served on the editorial board of Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers’ journal Learned Publishing, a variety of CrossRef Technical Working Groups, and the original National Library of Medicine (NLM) Advisory Panel on the NLM DTD, as well as a variety of ORCID working groups.

    He came to APS after working for two years on the development of the arXiv.org e-print archive, then located at Los Alamos National Laboratory, and continues his involvement as a member of arXiv’s Scientific Advisory Council. He received a Ph.D. in high energy physics (string theory) from Princeton University in 1992 and held a postdoctoral position at The Rockefeller University until 1994. He also holds a Bachelor in Science in Applied and Engineering Physics from Cornell University. He became a Fellow of APS in 2008.
